MIFF (1)

NAME

miff - mail notification program

SYNOPSIS

miff [ -r ] [ -y ] [ -n ] [ -d ]

DESCRIPTION

Miff is a mail notification program. Every 15 seconds it checks whether you have received any mail since the last time it checked. If so, it sends you mail notifying you of the fact. You can override the default interval of 15 seconds with the environmental variable $MAILNOTIFICATIONCHECKINTERVAL.

Options.

If you specify -r, miff automatically generates replies to the messages it sends. If you specify -y, mail notification is enabled. If you specify -n, mail notification is disabled. If you specify -d, the site-dependent default is selected. Most sites seem to prefer -n as the default.

ENVIRONMENT

MAILNOTIFICATIONCHECKINTERVAL - mail notification checking interval in milliseconds
